About Kingsbridge

Kingsbridge, South Devon is a popular market town with a population of just under 6,000 people it is located at the northern end of the kingsbridge estuary which links it to the town of salcombe and the the sea. Kingsbridge is popular with both tourists and locals and is situated within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town provides a good variety of restaurants and pubs as well as a cinema, museum and two supermarkets.

The area is extremely popular as a main living area, retirement area and holiday resort hosting a wealth of diversity including nearby beaches, boating facilities, Dartmoor to the north and towns and cities including Brixham, Totnes, Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay being within approx 1 hours drive.

Surrounding Villages:

Chillington

A large village located between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth on the coast road. There is a lively comunity with a health centre, post office / pub, gym and a pub.

Churchstow:

A small village just outside Kingsbridge on the way to Plymouth, the village has a church a village shop with post office and a pub with a popular weekend carvery.

East Portlemouth:

A small hamlet located on the banks of the Kingsbridge estuary opposite Salcombe which can be accesses via a passengers ferry. The village is famous for its sheltered sandy beaches.

East and West Charleton:

Two villages located verry close together outside of kingsbridge on the coastal road, there is a pub and a petrol station / small supermarket and camping / water sports shop.

East Prawle

A popular stop off for the south west coast path, located on the southmost tip of South Devon. There is a pub and village stores.

Beesands

A small fishing village located around the corner from Torcross on a shingle beach. There is a pub with accommodation, and café / shop selling freshly caught fish. The South West Coast Path runs through the village.

Aveton Gifford

A medium sized village located on the banks of the river Avon, conveniently located for both Bantham and Bigbury beaches. There is a pub and shop with post office.

Bantham

A small coastal village on the side of the river Avon with a large surfing beach benefiting form life guard cover. There is a pub with accommodation and a village stores.

Hope Cove

A small fishing village located on the south west coast path near to salcombe and kingsbridge. There are sandy beaches, a small harbour, several hotels, a pub, gallery and village stores.

Loddiswell

A large village located near to Kingsbridge. There is a primary school, church, pub, village shop / post office and garden centre.

Marlborough

Located between Salcombe and Kingsbridge this is a large village with petrol station, two pubs a large village hall.
